2025 Maclean's University Rankings: Engineering Programs

Check out which Canadian universities are in the top 20 for engineering programs!

As an engineer, there are so many different fields you can specialize in: mechanical, electrical, chemical, computer, aerospace, environmental, software, and many more! With all of these specialization choices, how are you even supposed to choose which school you’d like to attend? Checking out Maclean’s 2025 rankings for Canada’s best engineering programs is a great start!

Discover what universities cracked the top 20 in engineering programs. This program ranking is based on survey results where over 1,000 professors, deans, and chairs at 70 universities responded to a Maclean's survey asking them to list up to 10 universities they felt had the best programs and conducted the best research.

This year, we’re welcoming four new universities to the top 20: University of Windsor, York University, University of Manitoba, and Toronto Metropolitan University!

Carleton University also made an impression and rose eight spots to break into the top 10!

As always, don’t base your school decision entirely on rankings. Make sure you consider location, size of the school, campus culture, extracurriculars, and anything else that’s important to you.
